Small Groups, Real Coaching

The group fitness class at most gyms is a performance โ€” the coach on a stage, the members following along. At Studio of Austin, our classes are deliberately small so that format cannot happen. With twelve people maximum per session, the coach moves through the room, corrects form, scales loads for each individual, and knows from the attendance record that you did a heavy leg day yesterday. Classes are not standalone events; they are integrated into your broader programming. If you are on the Coached membership tier, your coach reviews your upcoming class schedule and adjusts your program accordingly. All-Access and Foundation members receive guidance from the class coach on how today's session fits their general plan. Every format is available to All-Access and Coached members; Foundation members receive access to one class format per week as part of their tier.

Class Formats Offered at Studio of Austin

Five formats, each running on a structured six-week programming block with measurable outcomes.

Strength Foundation

A 60-minute barbell-focused class built around the squat, hinge, press, and pull. Runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:00 AM and 6:30 PM. Load is prescribed individually โ€” no two people in the class lift the same weight unless they happen to share the same program stage.

Metabolic Conditioning

45-minute interval work combining kettlebells, assault bikes, turf sleds, and bodyweight movements. Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 6:00 PM. Intensity is scaled by the coach in real time based on your current fatigue and recovery status.

Mobility & Control

A 50-minute Sunday morning class focused on joint range of motion, stability work, and active recovery. Limited to ten participants. An excellent complement to higher-intensity formats and specifically recommended for members over 40 or those managing chronic tightness.

Functional Fitness

Three times per week, a 55-minute class blending dumbbell circuits, unilateral movements, and core training. Designed for members whose primary goal is long-term health and daily function rather than sport performance. Popular among members returning after a long break.

Performance Track

An invitation-only format for members who have been with Studio of Austin for at least three months and have a competition or specific performance goal. Coached by DeShawn Harris, our head strength coach, twice per week with video review between sessions.

โ€œI have taken the Metabolic Conditioning class every Tuesday morning for eleven months. Coach Yara tracks my heart rate patterns session to session โ€” she noticed I was under-recovering in October and pulled me back before I overreached. No big-box class coach has ever paid that kind of attention. The warm studio colors make a 6 AM start feel less like a punishment.โ€

How the Schedule Works

Studio of Austin runs classes on a six-week programming block. Each block has a defined theme โ€” a strength cycle might prioritize hip-dominant loading; a conditioning cycle might emphasize aerobic base-building. At the end of every block, coaches record benchmark metrics for each member: a one-rep max, a timed circuit, a mobility assessment. These benchmarks feed back into your individual program and help your coach make the case for when to increase load, when to back off, and when to introduce a new format. The full six-week schedule is published in the Studio app 10 days before each block starts, so you can plan your week with precision. Walk-ins are welcome on open spots with 2 hours' notice via app; pre-registered members have priority booking up to 5 days in advance.
